Award-winning accountancy firm, KSDT, teams up with Workiro to fuel future growth
Named by Forbes and USA Today as one of America’s Best Tax and Accounting Firms, Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co (KSDT CPA) has an impressive growth trajectory. Since its inception in 2005, the firm has grown from a team of three people to 255, generating close to $40 million revenue in 2024. But rapid growth brings complexity - and KSDT’s leadership knew that to stay ahead, they needed to embrace technology that could scale with them.
Jeff Tarabulos, Managing Partner, explains, “In a rapidly changing industry, I believe those who stay curious and keep pushing themselves forward will lead the way. One of KSDT’s values is continual investment in technology - I believe investing in the right tools is a differentiator. In fact, if I had a million dollars more on the bottom line, that million dollars would go towards technology.”
A Potted History of KSDT
As a young man, Jeff helped out in his dad’s accountancy firm, hand-writing numbers on green ledger paper. After a few false starts studying astronomy, marketing, political science and law, Jeff came to realise - with a bit of advice from his father - that his strengths lay in accountancy. After gaining his degree, Jeff’s career took off - seeing him quickly progress at Deloitte & Touche, Direct TV and Cemex, before eventually deciding to start his own firm.
“We started the business by buying out an existing firm. Within a year, we had almost doubled the firm’s revenue. They were successful, but they were old school. "Our enthusiasm, experience, and the fact that we were technologically savvy enabled us to really deliver“, Jeff recalls. “We tried to grow organically, but we were hungry for it to happen faster. The four main partners in the firm are really entrepreneurs who just happen to do accounting. So we took that model and replicated it, acquiring firms as we went.”
Scaling Without Complexity

With rapid expansion, KSDT faced a new challenge - how to keep operations streamlined across multiple locations and acquisitions. Their CPA firm management system, PracticeERP (powered by NetSuite), was a massive upgrade, integrating CRM, Time Entry, Workflows and Finance Reporting in one application. However, the legacy document management module being used at KSDT, which is an add-on to traditional accounting software, still slowed them down.
Jeff describes the issue: “It was inefficient and made collaboration harder than it needed to be. We needed something built for the modern practice”
A Seamless, Integrated System
Through Integra International, a global association of leading independent accounting firms, Jeff was introduced to Workiro, a cloud-based next-generation document management platform that integrates directly with PracticeERP.
Unlike other document storage solutions, Workiro is the client file reimagined. It harmoniously consolidates document management, task tracking, email capture, electronic signatures, and real-time collaboration in a single source of truth - directly within the Practice ERP system.
“With Workiro’s integration into PracticeERP, I finally have everything in one window. No more toggling between different platforms, navigating clunky folders or missing critical communication - it’s all at my fingertips,” Jeff says.
The Workiro platform aims to eliminate communication barriers, streamline project processes, and provide a comprehensive solution for users to manage documents, communications, and collaborative tasks in one integrated system.
David Owen, President at Workiro, explains, “In many ways, digital transformation has created its own challenges. The rush to keep up has resulted in companies investing in disparate tools that keep their information siloed. As a result, they spend more and more time trying to manage their tech stack. At Workiro, our aim is to fundamentally change the future of workplace productivity, and enable businesses to unlock the value of the information they hold. Organisations like KSDT can simplify and integrate their workflows into a single source of truth - where critical documents, communication, and tasks live in one place.”
Good Things in Small Packages - the Secret to Workiro’s Success
As self-confessed entrepreneurs who thrive on fast growth, the KSDT team made the decision to go with Workiro because of the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to build partnerships that forge success for everyone involved.
“I don’t like dealing with large, traditional software companies,” Jeff says emphatically. “I’ve always found their development and support to be sluggish. More agile vendors actually listen and adapt to our needs. They’re more nimble, they invest more in R&D, and they are able to make decisions and implement improvements fast. I’ve seen what Workiro offers, their development pipeline looks great, and their willingness to work in collaboration with customers really makes them stand out. They’ve got 20 years of history behind them, so they’re a safe bet, but they’ve got the tenacity and passion of a start-up - it’s a rare combination.

Enhanced Communication and Collaboration
Today, KSDT has offices across Florida, in Miami, Coral Gables, Weston, Boca Raton, in North Carolina and further afield in India and Philippines. With employees and clients geographically dispersed, having systems that effortlessly enhance communication and collaboration is really important to them.
Jeff continues, “Every time we make an acquisition, we have to undertake the digital transformation process again. Whether it’s bringing clients on board from paper-based systems or transitioning employees from incumbent software to KSDT’s chosen providers. To do that successfully, you've got to have solid, easy-to-use systems in place. Using the right software is also really important to our employee value proposition.”
Unlocking the Value of Software
Consistently named one of Florida’s best places to work, the KSDT team knows a thing or two about building a successful culture. With the accountancy industry currently suffering from a lack of new talent - a looming skills gap is on the horizon.
Jeff continues, “As well as using Workiro to improve productivity by easing employees’ administrative burden, I think software plays a big role in acquiring talent. Young people coming into the industry want to know you're on the cutting edge of technology. Workiro’s integrated approach provides us with the foundation for unlocking the potential of AI in the future - an exciting proposition for all involved.”
“As a senior partner, there are huge benefits too. The Workiro integration will allow me to step up the service we offer to our clients. The firm is also looking ahead to AI-driven insights and automation. Workiro is laying the foundation for the next phase of our business, where AI helps us deliver more proactive, high-value services. Accountancy has become commoditised, with a focus on deliverables, deadlines, and tax returns. The real value of what we do lies in the expertise and services we offer when we really take the time to understand our client’s business, objectives and challenges. Workiro will take care of the administrative side of the job, enabling us to help our clients grow.”
