Luke Kiely, CISO at GetBusy plc, brings 20+ years of experience in cybersecurity, including 12 years as a cybercrime Detective Sergeant and leadership roles at Content+Cloud in internal security and compliance.

Luke is a cybersecurity leader with a rare blend of experience spanning front-line law enforcement, SaaS product security, and enterprise information governance. As Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at GetBusy, the parent company of Workiro, Luke is responsible for security strategy across a global portfolio of cloud platforms that support over 75,000 businesses worldwide. His approach combines hands-on technical depth with a strategic understanding of risk, regulation, and the human factor in security.

His prior career uniquely balances investigative policing, infrastructure hardening, and SaaS compliance architecture. After starting his career in IT he moved to UK law enforcement where he served for more than a decade specialising in serious and complex crime, and cybercrime investigations. The experience cemented his practical understanding of threat actors, legal frameworks, and the real-world impact of digital security failures.

From there, Luke transitioned into the private sector, holding increasingly senior roles at organisations including Plusnet, Autocab, and Content+Cloud (now Advania UK). At Plusnet, he was responsible for maintaining the security of digital assets across a large UK ISP, building policies to ensure compliance with UK, EU and global legal requirements.

At Content+Cloud, he served as Head of Internal Cyber Security & Technical Compliance and Cyber Security Operations Manager, overseeing the enterprise security programme and supported a wide range of clients with cybersecurity monitoring, incident response and security posture improvements. He then moved to Autocab, an Uber-owned technology provider for the global taxi industry, where he was responsible for establishing the organisation’s information security program including risk management, data protection and regulatory compliance. He designed and implemented security protocols to address real-time operational vulnerabilities across a complex high-availability environment.

In his current role at GetBusy as Chief Information Security Officer, Luke’s remit covers risk management, information security governance, compliance, threat modelling and infrastructure hardening across both Workiro and its sister business SmartVault. He plays a key leadership role in responding to emerging compliance requirements such as the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCT Act), guiding companies on how to prepare for increased accountability, enhanced audit trails, and active fraud prevention measures. His recent webinar for Workiro focused on how businesses can operationalise ECCT compliance before regulatory deadlines bite.

When he’s not focused on Workiro Luke serves as a board member for ClubCISO, the global forum for security leaders; provides pro bono Information Security services for NGOs and is founder of ComplyWise, a service that provides compliance tools and advice for small accountancy firms and other businesses. He’s also a dedicated security mentor, regularly advising early-career professionals and contributing to wider conversations around ethics, transparency, and proactive governance. He somehow also finds the time to be a speaker at cybersecurity forums, universities and industry podcasts.
